Thanks for the replies.Well, I went to autozone, and found some edelbrock filter foam for around $6, it's just a big piece of foam that when cut to size, can make two air filters for the savage. They also had a can of filter oil for around $5. After cutting it just a little bigger than the filter housing, I put it in and it fit snug. I took it for a short ride and took it back out when I got home...the foam had worked its way out of the frame on the far side closest to the left side of the bike. To fix this, I took a screwdirver and gently bent the metal lip that originally held the edge of the paper filter in. I bent it up enough so that the edge of the foam filter fits under it, but only by about half a centimeter. I rode it to work and back today and checked it out when I got home and it stayed in place fine. So far the bike runs great, and it seems like it breathes better than before.
